About The Male Domestic Abuse Alliance (MDAA)

A Global Alliance: Together We Will.

Our Mission

The Male Domestic Abuse Alliance (MDAA) is an independent not-for-profit organisation aiming to become one of the most trusted, independent and important voices for male victims and survivors of domestic abuse. Led by people who want to see change, to go beyond short-term fixes, and shape government attention to public policy in this area.

The Alliance will bring together the people that matter, those closest to the issues, to lead and organise, putting agency, power and control at the heart of our work. A variety of steering groups will strengthen relationships across lived experience, professional practice, advocacy, and research.

As a global alliance, we recognise that domestic abuse affects men and boys in every country and culture. We actively encourage individuals and organisations from around the world to join us, share their insights, and represent the needs and experiences of their communities. By fostering international collaboration, exchanging knowledge, and learning from diverse perspectives, we aim to build a stronger collective voice and drive meaningful improvements in outcomes for male victims and survivors worldwide.

Our Philosophy

At The Male Domestic Abuse Alliance (MDAA), we believe that lasting change is achieved when those closest to the issue are empowered to lead it. We bring together survivors, professionals, researchers, advocates, and allies from diverse countries and communities, to create a strong, independent voice for male victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

Our work is rooted in collaboration, shared leadership, and a commitment to action. By placing agency, lived experience, and expertise at the heart of everything we do, we foster international learning, share promising practice across borders, and strengthen the collective response to male victimisation globally. Through this approach, we aim to influence policy, improve practice, and drive change that delivers better outcomes for men and their families wherever they live.

Our Expertise

Our team are our members.

Those closest to the issues. Those that matter most.

Our members are made up of victims and survivors of domestic abuse (our experts by experience), advocates, practitioners, researchers and academics, and those that want to be involved, see change, and shape policy.

The MDAA draws its expertise from you, the people and organisations at the heart of this issue. By bringing together diverse voices from sectors across the world, we create a powerful collective expertise that informs our work, strengthens our understanding, and drives change.

Our Promise

We promise to be an Alliance that is shaped by its members, guided by evidence, and driven by a shared commitment to improving outcomes for male victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

We will provide a collaborative space where lived experience, professional expertise, and research are valued equally. Bringing together members from across the UK and around the world, we will listen, support, connect, and empower individuals and organisations to share knowledge, influence policy, improve practice, and create change.

Most importantly, we will remain independent, inclusive, and focused on action, ensuring that together we achieve more than any one organisation or individual could alone. By fostering international collaboration and learning, we will help strengthen the response to male victims and survivors globally while championing change within local communities.

Abuse is Abuse

The Male Domestic Abuse Alliance recognises all victims and survivors of domestic abuse. While championing the needs of male victims, we are committed to driving meaningful change in policy, practice, and support services to ensure that everyone affected by abuse can access the recognition, protection, and support they deserve. No victim should be left behind.

'Friends of the MDAA'

We will be inviting organisations from across the globe to work more closely with The Male Domestic Abuse Alliance as 'Friends of the MDAA', sharing knowledge, strengthening partnerships, and tackling common challenges together. By bringing organisations worldwide into a closer partnership with The Male Domestic Abuse Alliance, we aim to build a stronger global network that works collectively to address domestic abuse challenges and drive positive change.
